This policy explains how Penlify collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile app, website, and related services.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide when you create or use an account, including your name, email address, authentication identifiers, and support communications.

When you use rewriting or AI-detection features, the text you submit, the selected tone and strength, and the generated results are processed to provide the requested service. Your recent writing history is stored locally on your device unless you remove it.

• Account and profile information.
• Submitted text, settings, and generated output.
• Subscription status and transaction references; payment-card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Penlify.
• Technical, security, and usage information such as device type, app version, request timestamps, error details, and network identifiers.
• With your permission on the website, privacy-focused analytics events such as page visits, button clicks, sign-up method, completed rewrites, and checkout progress. These events never include submitted writing, generated output, email addresses, names, or payment-card details.

How we use information

We use information to operate, secure, maintain, and improve Penlify; authenticate users; provide AI features; manage subscriptions; enforce usage limits; respond to support requests; prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the text you submit to build advertising profiles.

AI processing and service providers

Submitted text may be sent through our secure backend to third-party AI model providers, including Google Gemini and Groq, to generate rewrites or detection results. Those providers process the text on our behalf or under their applicable terms and privacy commitments.

We also use service providers such as Google Firebase for authentication, Google Analytics for consent-based website measurement, Stripe for billing, and Vercel for backend hosting. Providers receive only the information reasonably needed to perform their services.

Legal bases and international transfers

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, we process data as necessary to perform our contract with you, based on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, with your consent where required, and to comply with law.

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers are protected by recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

Retention and security

We retain account and subscription records while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward when needed for security, disputes, accounting, or legal compliance. Submitted text may be retained temporarily in server logs or by service providers as needed to operate and protect the service.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

Website analytics is disabled unless you select “Allow analytics.” Your choice is stored in your browser. You can clear the site’s local storage to reset that choice.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

To request account deletion or exercise another privacy right, email penlify.support@gmail.com from the email associated with your account.

Children

Penlify is not directed to children under 13, or under the higher minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children who cannot legally consent to use the service.

Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service or law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
